Client: Deakin University
Project: BC Building at Burwood Campus
Scope: Major internal fitout of new BC building, Burwood Road.

Loaram successfully tendered the internal refit of B1 and L1 in the new BC building in November 2013. The package of works was isolated from the main project’s delivery and was issued to the market after an EOI process.
The feature component of the opportunity was a $700K commercial kitchen fitout including dumb waiter and associated structural works. The theme of the fitout continued from the initial construction – the use of extensive feature timber, selected leather panelling and quality stone finishes.
In line with the high standards of Deakin University the Mechanical and electrical / data / comms packages were significant in size and complexity.
As the building is constructed using a post tensioned slab, the structural changes necessary to build the decks for the new commercial kitchen were complicated and detailed. Every penetration had to be assess and considered with great care.
As works progressed Loaram was then approach to manage the key external branding of the new building including the manufacture and crane lift of 2 x 5 metre diameter Deakin discs in a complex installation atop the building’s façade blades.
Noting the critical time frame to open the building, this work was undertaken on a D&C basis, rendering this aspect delivered on program and under budget.
The additional of a level 2 package of works including a $500K specialised AV component saw the project extend to eight months of intense onsite works. The AV package is the most complex delivered by Loaram to date and included responsibility for custom furniture fabrication, fittings and automated window furnishings for the two key presentation rooms.
Loaram closed out the project in early 2015 with a new LCD digital signage package incorporating custom fabricated ACM modules for 10 meeting suites.

We hope the opportunity to work with you again presents itself in the near future.
